Community Guidelines

The meetings never have to end. A few shared ground rules help keep them worth coming back to.

1 — Be Good to Each Other

Musical disagreements are welcome. Harassment, threats, hateful conduct and personal attacks are not. Treat the person on the other side of the screen like someone you might meet at the next record show.

2 — No Music Snobbery Required

Collectors and noncollectors are equally welcome. Vinyl, CDs, cassettes, streaming, radio and digital music all belong here. If you know your way around a record bin, help someone who is just getting started.

3 — Use the Appropriate Rooms

Start discussions in the room that fits best. Moderators may move topics to help people find them and keep the conversations organized.

4 — Don’t Spam the Meeting

No repetitive advertising, unsolicited promotions, mass solicitation, automated posting or affiliate-link dumping. Musicians, artists, labels and record-store owners are welcome to join the conversation genuinely. Help make this a community, not an advertising feed.

5 — Buying, Selling & Trading: Use Your Best Judgment

Buying, selling, trading and discussing music-related collectibles are welcome in The Trading Post. Describe items honestly, deal fairly and take sensible precautions. Check photographs, pressing details, condition and shipping terms, and choose payment methods with appropriate buyer protection.

Transactions are arranged directly between members. Recordholics Anonymous does not handle payments, verify sellers, provide escrow, guarantee merchandise or provide buyer/seller protection. Members participate at their own risk, subject to applicable law. Report scams or dishonest listings; moderators may hide or remove listings and restrict accounts when necessary.

6 — Share the Music, Respect the Creators

Legitimate music links are welcome: YouTube performances and music videos; Spotify and Apple Music tracks; Bandcamp releases; Discogs listings; interviews, documentaries and music journalism; artist and record-store websites; and photos of records and collections. Share your discoveries and give creators credit.

Do not upload unauthorized copies of copyrighted recordings or other protected works, distribute pirated material, or expose anyone else’s private information.

7 — Keep It Honest

No impersonation, scams, fabricated testimonials, fraudulent descriptions or knowingly misleading information. Be honest about who you are and what you are sharing.

8 — Help Keep the Community Enjoyable

Use the reporting tools to flag spam, scams, harassment or other problematic content. Moderators may move, hide or remove posts and restrict accounts when necessary. Help us keep this a place people want to come back to.
